چکیده

A problem of an edge crack with a fracture process zone in semi-infinite orthotropic planes under the pure- and mixed-mode loading (I II modes) was studied. cohesive different lengths opening sliding modes (multiple zone) used to simulate zone. The smooth closure condition defines two modes. that is normal plate formulated terms integral equations for unknown displacement discontinuity along crack. collocation method applied singular Cauchy kernel gave critical loads respective discrete tractions separations. These are non-linear since dependence on taken according potential-based traction–separation law. An iterative procedure satisfy closure. generalization potential, well-known literature, generate traction field. potential combines pure-mode laws without mode-mixity parameters. Two types generalized functions were considered, analysis carried out. Numerical solutions presented separations state when both trapezoidal shaped. Comparison loci obtained potentials allowed us conclude type strongly influences

Quasistatic Crack Growth for a Cohesive Zone Model with Prescribed Crack Path

In this paper we study the quasistatic crack growth for a cohesive zone model. We assume that the crack path is prescribed and we study the time evolution of the crack in the framework of the variational theory of rate-independent processes.

A Vanishing Viscosity Approach to Fracture Growth in a Cohesive Zone Model with Prescribed Crack Path

Abstract. The existence of crack evolutions based on critical points of the energy functional is proved, in the case of a cohesive zone model with prescribed crack path. It turns out that evolutions of this type satisfy a maximum stress criterion for the crack initiation. With an explicit example, it is shown that evolutions based on the absolute minimization of the energy functional do not enj...

A cohesive model of fatigue crack growth

We investigate the use of cohesive theories of fracture, in conjunction with the explicit resolution of the near-tip plastic fields and the enforcement of closure as a contact constraint, for the purpose of fatiguelife prediction. An important characteristic of the cohesive laws considered here is that they exhibit unloadingreloading hysteresis. This feature has the important consequence of pre...
